Rechargeable 1.5 volt lithium AAA cells
« on: September 28, 2021, 09:15:24 am »
This looks too good to be true. I may order these and test them, then do a YouTube 'review' video. The 1200 mWh converts to 660 mAh.
Check out the whole ad listing.
update: reviews are mixed.

Received, charged and now testing on the Joule thief. The cells built-in circuit protects against over and under voltage. Just wondering about the "Lithium"claim since all the lithium I know that is rechargeable is 3.7 volts not 1.5 volts.
Maybe it really is 3.7 volts, but the output is regulated down to 1.5 volts to fit this form factor.

Pretty fancy chip!
They are advertised to provide a steady 1.5V output, so I think you are right that they regulate it down.  The mAhr rating is quite low, so the actual battery is probably fairly small.  I wonder if you can charge it with a 6V solar panel or if that would be too high a voltage.

Now you have me thinking about small hydro storage again.  ;D
Here is a guy's system that uses a 55 gal drum on his roof.  He fills it using a solar panel and has a custom Pelton wheel driven generator to light an LED.  The amount of energy stored is about the same as a AA battery.  Your light could go for a long time on one drum of water.  Maybe you could fill a bag of water, pull it up into a tree and get some light for an entire evening.

He doesn't need the float switch, just a ground level 55 gallon drum. Then you recycle the water.

One of the 4 cells is dead and won't charge, returning them.

Got the replacement order. charged them up and they didn't have a shelf life over 24 hours.
Returning them.
