Wind generator via tree 🎄
« on: December 03, 2021, 08:12:55 pm »
See those tall trees swaying in the wind?
You can't get a turbine up that high, but the treetops are. What if you could attach a cable to the top and wind it around a generator shaft on the ground?

That would be very stealthy too.

I was thinking of shooting it up with a bow and arrow.

I have one. I bought it 4 years ago, and never took it out of the box.
Isn't that nuts?

I have one too ... with a camera and everything.  But I only flew it once and learned I am not an RC pilot.

I used to have an rc helo and it was hard to fly. I once went straight up , there was no wind at ground level, but when I got up to 100 feet it got blown about 300 feet down the street.
Hoping the drone has more stability.

You can use fishing  down rigger line  it's strong  and  very  thin ( plastic  coated  stainless  steel)

The battery's probably kaput.

I figured shooting up fishing line also. With a large treble hook at the end.
And as the tree sways back and forth, the line wrapped around the alternator shaft oscillates clockwise and counterclockwise. No need for a complete revolution to generate power.

Charging now.

Or use the Charlie Brown method and fly a kite near the tree.

When I was in the Navy we used to shoot a fishing line to another ship with a shotgun, then tie the fishing line to a bigger line, then a bigger line etc. This is how we would refuel while underway.

Drone charged. It flies good but it only flys for about 2 minutes before needing a recharge. Not enough time to get proficient.
