New/ Old solution for energy storage

(1/1)

Interesting.

Caleb:
I wonder if they will run into problems like we have with capacitors; they are great when fully charged, but the energy stored drops off quickly as they discharge.  I mean, as the warm rocks get cooler and the cold rocks get warmer, there is less temperature difference to run the heat engines so the efficiency drops (rapidly?).  But I'm sure they have modeled all that.  Just a thought.

CG:
Two storage methods that don't have that problem are pumped hydro and lifted weights.
They could make one to raise a building at night , then lower the building during times when the power is needed. Probably would only need to raise it a few feet.
