Sounds like you’ve already completed this project in your head 😂. I’m pretty sure you’ll have fun with it.

This is what I was looking at.

Now that I've seen the inside of a hub motor, I think it would be fun to design my own insides.  Then make it so it could be bolted to the bottom of a bent wing VAWT and form the lower bearing.

According to this website, 24 slots and 22 magnets should be a good combination for low cogging:

I’ve used Ailexpress which is owned by the Alibaba group. I’ve had no problems though shipping can take a while also, watch the shipping costs! The product is often a really good looking deal but plainly they discount the product and bump up the shipping at the checkout. On the whole though I’ve had no problems. Obviously there’s to branches of ‘made in China’ descent quality and the knock of version, I can probably decipher the difference in the price tag.

Has anyone used Alibaba.com before?  I just wondered if they were reliable.  I was thinking of ordering a frameless bldc motor from that site to be used as a generator.

I’ve not come across them myself either. Probably worth having a bag for any number of quick fixers.

My experience with nylon zip ties is they get brittle over time and break. Maybe due to uv rays.
They have stainless steel ones that last forever.

I think if you put a spring on each side of the roller it might shift right when the input disc is going fast and there is no load on the output disc. Then when a load is applied to the output disc the roller would travel to the left? ?
